The COP30 (30th Conference of the Parties) is the next big one. world summit on climate change organised by the United Nationswhich will be held in Belém do Pará, Brazilin the year 2025.
This conference brings together representatives from more than 190 countriestogether with social, scientific, environmental and community organisations from around the world, to dialogue, assessment and decision-making in the face of the global climate crisis.
The COP is the main decision making body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)created in 1992 during the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Since then, a COP has been held every year to strengthen international commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, protect ecosystems, boost energy transition and promote climate justice.
In this edition, the COP30 will be particularly significant to be held in the heart of the AmazonThe Belém conference, a key territory for the planet's climate stability, will be held in Belém. Belém will be at the epicentre of global discussions on the conservation of tropical forests, protection of indigenous peoples, biodiversity and sustainable development.
Thanks to the valuable management and the constant work of Asoprovida's promoters in Brazilwas achieved, the invitation and official participation of the organisation in COP30The event is a recognition of the commitment and joint effort for environmental education, the protection of life and sustainability in Latin America.
During the event, countries are due to present their new national commitments to the Paris Agreement, with updated targets to limit global temperature increase to 1.5°C.
