Asoprovida - 2nd International Congress - Colombia
We are pleased to publish this post about the 2nd International Congress of Asoprovida. The event took place in Cali, Valle del Cauca, Colombia at the CVC Auditorium on 27, 28 and 29 October 2016. The congress brought together participants from eight different nationalities, and Honduras was one of the largest and most active delegations present. The congress focused on a number of important environmental issues, including the need for people to recognise themselves as global citizens rather than just citizens of their respective countries.
The keynote speaker emphasised the importance of personal responsibility for environmental conservation and encouraged people to take action. As the impacts of climate change were discussed, it was noted that 2016 was the warmest year on record, and this added urgency to the need to address climate change. Traditional production models do not take into account the environmental impact of their actions and cannot address environmental concerns. The interaction between production systems and life is crucial to maintaining ecological balance.
During the congress, the idea that biodiversity plays a crucial role in agricultural production was discussed. The importance of animals, including birds, insects and livestock, in maintaining ecological balance was highlighted. However, traditional production models often overlook these important aspects, leading to imbalances and reduced food security.
The advance of globalisation and technology has created a disconnect between humans and their environment, leading to indifference towards environmental problems. It was felt that it is possible to address this problem by fostering a sense of connection between people and nature by organising workshops like this one.
Finally, the keynote speaker emphasised the importance of waste management, recycling and post-consumer programmes for environmental conservation. These programmes are essential to ensure sustainable growth and development and promote the responsible use of resources. The 2nd International Congress of Asoprovida was therefore an extremely informative event that highlighted the urgent need for individuals and societies to take responsibility for the environment around them.
