Climate Change and Peace

The 21st of September is the International Day of Peace, to remind us that in all our actions, thoughts and feelings we should reflect this value: Peace with ourselves, with the people around us, with animals and plants.
On the International Day of Peace, the United Nations (UN) holds annual global campaigns, the main theme of which is peace. For the year 2021 the motto is "Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world".

Did you know that?
In 2019, the International Day of Peace focused on the fight against climate change to promote peace in the world.

There are several reasons for asserting that the environment can influence world peace, including the following:
-Natural disasters cause far more displacement than conflict, forcing thousands of people to flee their homes in search of refuge.
-Resource scarcity creates tensions between people and peoples.
-Salinisation of water and crops threatens food security.
-In this sense, combating climate change is fundamental to achieving peace in the world.
