Planetary culture and guardians of life come to Uruguay's classrooms<\/strong><\/h1>\n

What would happen if from an early age we learned to live without damaging the planet? That question - and its answer - took shape in a classroom at School No. 64 in the department of Salto, Uruguay, when two promoters from Asoprovida arrived with a message the children will not easily forget.<\/p>\n

A visit that raised environmental awareness<\/h2>\n

Mauro and \u00c1ngela, promoters of the environmental organisation Asoprovida<\/strong>visited School No. 64 in the department of Salto to share two key lessons with 1st and 6th grade students: Planetary Culture<\/strong> y Guardians of Life<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The activity, simple in its form but profound in its content, sought something very concrete: to awaken in children an awareness that will accompany them throughout their lives - the awareness that we share this planet with other kingdoms, and that caring for it is everyone's responsibility.<\/p>\n

What is Planetary Culture?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The problem: the human being at the centre<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We live in a civilisation organised under the anthropocentrism<\/strong>The doctrine that places the human being at the centre of the planet. Under this vision, human development - economic, technological, social - occurs regardless of the cost to nature, animals or ecosystems.<\/p>\n

The result of this way of life is plain to see: pollution, deforestation, species extinction and a planet that is feeling the impact of centuries of decisions focused solely on human profit.<\/p>\n

The proposal: grow without destroying<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Planetary Culture<\/strong> proposes exactly the opposite. Its central teaching is that it is possible - and necessary - to develop as a civilisation. without harming the world around us<\/strong>The earth, the air, the animals, nature in all its expression.<\/p>\n

This culture reminds us of something that the plant and animal kingdoms do naturally: grow and develop. without affecting other beings with whom we live together<\/strong>. Human beings, on the other hand, have lost this harmony. Recovering it is the challenge and the commitment that the Planetary Culture invites us to assume.<\/p>\n

Who are the Guardians of Life?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The second lesson shared by the promoters of Asoprovida was Guardians of Life<\/strong>a proposal as beautiful as it is accessible to all ages.<\/p>\n

Its message is direct: any person who is willing to care for, protect and respect life in all its forms<\/strong> -human, plant and animal- is a true guardian of life.<\/p>\n

No title is required, no special role. Just a conscious decision to treat with respect and care the living beings with whom we share this planet. That decision, freely made, makes anyone - child or adult - a guardian.<\/p>\n

From words to action: activities with children<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The visit did not stop at the theoretical level. After the talks, it was time for action.<\/p>\n

The children and the promoters went out together to the school playground to picking up litter<\/strong>They put what they had learned into immediate practice. In addition, the students elaborated posters with reflective phrases<\/strong> on the care of life and carried out drawings<\/strong> who expressed, with the creativity of childhood, their commitment to the planet.<\/p>\n

These posters and drawings are not just handicrafts: they are evidence that a seed was planted.<\/p>\n

Why environmental education in schools matters<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Educating them with a vision that goes beyond anthropocentrism - that teaches them to see themselves as part of nature and not as its owners - is one of the most important investments a society can make.<\/p>\n

Initiatives such as Asoprovida's in Salto show that it is possible to talk about these issues in a way that is approachable, understandable and exciting for young people. And that environmental awareness has no minimum age.<\/p>\n
